Saison 2008-09 - Rückblick und Ausblick

Die Saison 2008-09 brachte weitere wichtige Debüts und grosse Ehrungen: zunächst stand Simon Gaudenz erstmals am Pult des Symphonieorchesters des Bayerischen Rundfunks, des Deutschen Symphonie-Orchesters Berlin, des Konzerthausorchesters Berlin, als auch der Sinfonieorchester von Lyon, Strasbourg, Luxembourg, Basel, Stuttgart, Innsbruck und Odense.
Im Februar errang er in Berlin den höchstdotierten Dirigentenpreis Europas, den „Deutschen Dirigentenpreis“, und wurde wenig später von der Schweizer Kulturstiftung Aargauer Kuratorium mit einem „Beitrag an das künstlerische Schaffen“ ausgezeichnet. Zusammen mit dem Cellisten Istvan Vardai und dem Orchestre de Chambre de Genève nahm er im Juni Elgars Cellokonzert auf.
Nach Standing Ovations im abschliessenden Abonnementskonzert dieser Saison mit Mahlers erster Symphonie wird Simon Gaudenz im August ausserdem seine sechste Spielzeit als Chefdirigent und Künstlerischer Leiter des Collegium Musicum Basel in Angriff nehmen, in welcher er mit dem Orchester neben zahlreichen Konzerten eine Spanien-Tournee sowie eine CD-Produktion realisieren wird.

Saison 2008-09 - Review and preview
The season 2008-2009 brought further important debuts and great honors: first, Simon Gaudenz appeared with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio in Munich, then with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin but also the symphony orchestras of Lyon, Strasbourg, Luxembourg, Basel, Stuttgart, Innsbruck and Odense.
In February 2009, he won the prestigious and highest remunerated German Conductor Prize 2009 "Deutscher Dirigentepreis" in Berlin, Germany and just a few weeks later the Board of the Swiss Aargauer Culture Foundation awarded Simon Gaudenz a grant for his contributions to the Arts. Together with cellist Istvan Vardai and the Chamber Orchestra of Geneva, Simon Gaudenz recorded in June 2009 the Cello Concerto by Elgar. The final subscription concert of the Collegium Musicum Basel of this season with Mahler's first symphony received standing ovations for the orchestra and conductor.
Next season will mark Simon Gaudenz' sixth season as Chief Conductor and artistic director of the Collegium Musicum Basel during which he will conduct numerous concerts with this ensemble, undertake a major tour to Spain and release its first CD together.
